FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's tennis team earned a 7-0 non-conference victory over Hunter College on Wednesday afternoon at home. With the win, the Rams moved to 6-6 overall, while the Hawks fell to 4-6.
FSC opened the match by claiming the doubles point with wins in all three matches. At first doubles, junior Kwaku Agyeman (Middletown, N.Y.) and freshman Henri Pothier (Montgomery, N.Y.) recorded a 7-6 (7-3) victory over Nicholas Cooper and Alexander Hagiu. Freshman Luke Plana (Bohemia, N.Y.) and junior Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) earned a 6-0 win against Odin Dibra and Savio Francis at second doubles, while sophomore Michael Lerman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and junior Danial Zindani (Walden, N.Y.) defeated Jason Parmar and Nicholas Douglas by a 6-1 score in the third position.
The Rams secured victories in all six singles matches to complete the 7-0 sweep. Sophomore Zakaria Ahmed (Manhasset, N.Y.) posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Cooper at first singles. Zindani earned a win by retirement at second singles after leading the opening set against Hagiu. Sophomore Jordan Gonzales (Central Islip, N.Y.) recorded a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Dibra at third singles. In the fourth slot, Plana defeated Francis, 6-2, 6-2.
Freshman Broc Brown (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Parmar at fifth singles, while junior Myles Freelin (Islip, N.Y.) closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Douglas at sixth singles.
Farmingdale State will next host non-conference opponent Baruch College on Friday, April 17th at 4 p.m.
