N.Y. |Â The Farmingdale State College softball team improved to 4-0 in Skyline Conference play on Saturday, as it swept a doubleheader at St. Joseph's-Long Island by a pair of mercy-rule decisions. The Rams (10-10) earned a 12-1 victory in five innings in the opening game, before capturing a 13-5, six-inning win in the nightcap.Â
FSC took control of the first game by sending 10 batters to the plate a six-run second inning. Sophomore
Natalie McMichael (Smithtown, N.Y.) drove in the first run with an infield single to score junior
Isabella Marchini (Hicksville, N.Y.), before junior
Madison Sturtz (East Islip, N.Y.) plated classmate
Ashley Toro (Islip, N.Y.) on a bunt single. Junior
Bailey Hammock (Port Jervis, N.Y.) increased the lead to 4-0 with a two-run double to left-center fielder, scoring McMichael and junior pitcher
Madison DeMaio (Elmont, N.Y.) in the process. Senior
Samantha Stolfi (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and sophomore
Alexandra Pole (Rocky Point, N.Y.) added RBIs later in the frame.Â
Sturtz drove in Toro once again with a single up the middle in the third inning, before the Rams tacked on five more runs in the fifth. Â

Sturtz went 3-for-3 with a walk from her leadoff spot in the batting order, while Marchini and Pole notched two hits apiece. Hammock and Stolfi both drove in two runs, while DeMaio scattered seven hits and struck out six Golden Eagles to earn the victory in the pitcher's circle.Â
In the second game, Farmingdale State used four runs in the third inning and five more in the fourth to pull away from St. Joseph's (2-11, 0-4 Skyline). Hammock went 4-for-5 with a double and three runs scored, including a pair in three Rams' nine-run spurt in the middle innings, while freshman
Emily Lopez (East Meadow, N.Y.) went 4-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. Stolfi (double) and Pole each went 3-for-5 at the dish while adding two RBI and a run scored.
Farmingdale State is back at home Sunday, when it plays host to the University of Mount Saint Vincent for a noontime doubleheader.Â
