NEWBURGH, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis team earned a 7-0 Skyline Conference victory on the road over Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams (4-5, 2-0 Skyline) controlled the match from the start, sweeping all three doubles contests to take an early lead. The first doubles pair of junior Kwaku Agyeman (Middletown, N.Y.) and freshman Henri Pothier (Montgomery, N.Y.) secured a 6-1 win, while junior Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and freshman Luke Plana (Bohemia, N.Y.) followed with a 6-3 victory at second doubles. At third doubles, junior Myles Freelin (Islip, N.Y.) and freshman Broc Brown (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) completed the sweep with a 6-0 win.
In singles play, Agyeman took first singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Pothier earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at second singles, while junior Danial Zindani (Walden, N.Y.) battled to a 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-7) victory at third singles.
Sophomore Jordan Gonzales (Central Islip, N.Y.) picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at fourth singles, Plana added a 6-2, 6-1 victory at fifth singles, and sophomore Jake Pepitone (Carle Place, N.Y.) closed out the 7-0 victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles.
Farmingdale State will next resume its suspended match against Merchant Marine on Sunday, April 12th at 2:00 p.m. The match originally began on April 1st before being halted due to rain and will continue with doubles play.
