SOFTBALL RESULTS/SCHEDULE
CLERMONT, FL | The FSC softball team wrapped up play at The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida with four more contests, including two against ranked opponents. Farmingdale State finished the trip with three wins and will next play Sarah Lawrence in their home opener on Sunday, March 29th.Â
Friday, March 20
The Rams fell to Buffalo State, 7-2, and Framinham State, 6-0, on Friday.
Senior
Samantha Stolfi (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) registered a pair of hits, an RBI and a walk against Buffalo State to lead FSC. Freshman
Mia DeLango (Red Hook, N.Y.) drove in FSC's other run, while junior
Ashley Toro (Bay Shore, N.Y.) drew two walks and scored once.
Farmingdale State was held to just two hits against Framingham State as Toro and junior
Madison Sturtz (East Islip, N.Y.) produced one hit apiece. Sophomore
Nikole Galgano (Levittown, N.Y.) registered a pair of walks and a stolen base in the loss.
Saturday, March 21
Farmingdale State dropped decisions to No. 12 Simpson College, 7-1, and No. 14 Wisconsin-White Water, 15-1, on Saturday.
FSC took an early lead against Simpson when sophomore
Alexandra Pole (Rocky Point, N.Y.) singled and was quickly driven in on a double to right-center by junior
Isabella Marchini (Hicksville, N.Y.). The Storm tied the game on a triple in the third inning before scoring three unearned runs to take a 5-1 advantage. Simpson added two runs in the top of the seventh as they went on for the 7-1 victory.
Pole produced two hits, while Marchini and freshman
Emily Lopez (Miller Place, N.Y.) had one hit apiece. Junior pitcher
Madison DeMaio (Elmont, N.Y.) took the complete-game loss, allowing just two earned runs while striking out a pair.
The Rams trailed Wisconsin-White Water, 4-0, in the second before Galgano recorded an RBI single to close the gap to three. The Warhawks responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning and two more in the third to take a commanding 10-1 advantage. They added five runs in the fourth to earn the 15-1 run-rule victory.
Galgano and Stolfi tallied hits for FSC in defeat.
The Rams will next return home to open conference play against Sarah Lawrence on Sunday, March 29th at noon.
