Women's Lacrosse Falls at Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J. | The Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse team fell at Stockton University, 16-5, in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.

Stockton (5-3) opened the scoring early in the first quarter before FSC (1-4) senior attack Emily Sohm (Seaford, N.Y.) answered to tie the game at 1-1, finishing a pass from Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.). The Ospreys responded with five unanswered goals to close the quarter and take a 6-1 lead.

The Rams added two goals in the second quarter as senior attack Krystal Sulin (Nesconset, N.Y.) scored off a Livingston assist at the 10:33 mark, and sophomore midfielder Rylee Valenzano (Centereach, N.Y.) converted a feed from Sohm to cut the deficit to 9-3. Stockton would close the half with three straight goals as they took a 12-3 advantage into the break.

In the third quarter, senior midfielder Molly Espey (West Hempstead, N.Y.) found the back of the net off an assist from Jordyn Neu (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) to account for Farmingdale State's fourth goal of the contest.

The Rams added their final tally late in the fourth quarter when senior midfielder Kailee Coppola (Levittown, N.Y.) scored with just over four minutes remaining.

Sohm led Farmingdale State with three points on a goal and two assists, while Livingston recorded two assists. Valenzano contributed a goal, three ground balls, a draw control, and one caused turnover. Sophomore defender Rebecca Lohman (Levittown, N.Y.) led the defense with three caused turnovers, while sophomore Jill DeAveiro (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and junior Marybeth Zimos (Hicksville, N.Y.) had two caused turnovers apiece.

Junior Giavanna Stamatelo (Levittown, N.Y.) made 10 saves in net for the Rams.

Stockton was led by Aubrey Giordano and Julia Gibson, who each scored five goals.

The Rams will now travel to Florida for their spring break trip, where they will take on Stevenson on Tuesday, March 17th, before facing Springfield on Wednesday, March 18th.
