DELHI, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's volleyball rolled to a pair of 3-0 sweeps over SUNY Canton and SUNY Delhi in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon. With the two victories, the Rams improved to 5-1 on the season.
In their opener against Canton (1-6), FSC took the first two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-15. In the third, the Rams trailed 24-22 before rallying with three straight points on a Roos error and back-to-back kills by junior outside hitter
Sarah Kollarik (Levittown, N.Y.) and senior middle blocker
Lauren Offermann (North Babylon, N.Y.). After Canton tied the score at 25-25, FSC closed it out on an Offermann kill and Canton error to secure the sweep with a 27-25 set win.
Sophomore outside
Samantha Russo (Bay Shore, N.Y.) paced the Rams with 12 kills, three aces and 15 digs. Kollarik finished with six kills and 13 digs, while Offermann added six kills and a block. Senior setter
Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) recorded 27 assists, three kills and eight digs.
Freshman
Alana Henry (Amityville, N.Y.) contributed four kills, four digs and a block, while classmate
Asia Perkes (Laurel, MD) chipped in with three kills and two blocks. Senior defensive specialist
Delaney Keegan (Lake Grove, N.Y.) registered a season-high 21 digs in the victory.
Against the host Broncos (0-5), FSC controlled the match throughout, winning the sets 25-18, 25-15 and 25-11.
Kollarik hit .409 with 10 kills, while Russo tallied eight kills, 14 digs and two aces. Rende notched a double-double with 20 assists and 13 digs, and Henry added three kills in the win.
Farmingdale State next returns home for a non-conference match against Brooklyn College on Tuesday, September 9th at 6:00 p.m.
