Women's Soccer Defeated at Drew

Drew Fall Classic, Day 1
Drew 3, Farmingdale State 1
MADISON, N.J. | Freshman Paulina Fonfara (Glen Cove, N.Y.) netted her fourth goal of the season Saturday afternoon for the Farmingdale State College women's soccer team, which fell on the opening day of the Drew Fall Festival to the host Rangers, 3-1.

Fonfara's tally opened the scoring in the 30th minute of play to give the Rams (2-2) a 1-0 lead that it carried into halftime. Senior attacker Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.) won the ball for FSC in a high press on the right wing, before sending the ball across the top of the penalty area. From there, Fonfara took two touches before firing home a high shot into the left-hand side of the goal. For Rivera, the helper was the 23rd of her Rams career.

Drew (2-0-1) responded with three second-half goals to capture the victory, with a pair of strikes within three minutes of each other staking the hosts to a 2-1 edge with 32 minutes left. The Rangers rounded out the scoring 17 minutes before the final whistle on a header from a left-corner cross.

Sophomore goalie Sam Richards (Ellicott City, Md.) made six of her eight saves in the second half for Farmingdale State, which rounds out Fall Festival play on Sunday afternoon with a 2:30 p.m. kickoff against Stockton University.
