Second-Half Surge Powers Women's Soccer Past Old Westbury

Farmingdale State 5, Old Westbury 0
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. | A five-goal second half sent the Farmingdale State College women's soccer team to a 5-0, Skyline Conference victory Tuesday afternoon over SUNY Old Westbury.

FSC (4-7-1, 3-0 Skyline) broke a scoreless deadlock just over three minutes into the second half, when freshman striker Paulina Fonfara (Glen Cove, N.Y.) converted a pass from sophomore Abigail Chest (Johnstown, N.Y.) to send the Rams on their way over the host Panthers (4-4, 1-3).

Senior attacker Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.) doubled the visitors' edge nine minutes later off an assist from classmate Alexandra Coloma (Seaford, N.Y.) for her sixth goal of the season, before Fonfara notched her sixth on the campaign from the penalty spot in the 61st minute of action. Junior Stephanie Alberghine (Medford, N.Y.) connected on her third goal of the season 20 minutes before the final whistle off a pass from freshman Tiana Phouangphanh (Rochester, N.Y.), before the rookie registered her first-career goal on an assist by freshman Anastasia Wilson (Farmingdale, N.Y.) in the 83rd minute of play.

Farmingdale State did not concede a shot in front of senior keeper Hailey Stork (Bellmore, N.Y.), who collected her ninth clean sheet in 17 career starts for the Rams.

FSC continues its Skyline Conference campaign on the road Saturday (Oct. 4) at 3 p.m., when it travels to Riverdale, N.Y., to face the University of Mount Saint Vincent in a rematch of last fall's Skyline Conference Championship final.
