Farmingdale State 8, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 0
NEW YORK | The Farmingdale State College women's soccer team won its second Skyline Conference match in as many outings on Wednesday night, as a hat trick from junior
Julia Rebich (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the way in the Rams' 8-0 shutout over St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn.
Junior winger
Kayla Mendez (Staten Island, N.Y.) notched two goals and one assist inside the first 24 minutes for FSC (3-6-1, 2-0 Skyline), while freshman
Angelina McGrath (East Patchogue, N.Y.) also netted a pair on the night.
McGrath's first collegiate goal came four minutes after Mendez opened the scoring barrage, pushing the Rams to a 2-0 edge in the 13th minute of play. Mendez's second on the day came in minute No. 24 off a feed from senior
Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.), who followed with her fifth goal of the season off a pass from Rebich 14 minutes before halftime. Rebich then sent Farmingdale State into the break with a 6-0 lead, as she scored goals 72 seconds apart on assists by freshman
Brunella Torriani (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and senior
Sydney Kranick (Pittsburgh, Pa.), respectively.
McGrath completed her multi-goal evening 90 seconds after play resumed, before Rebich closed out her first-career hat trick late in the contest.
The Farmingdale State defense kept its third clean sheet of the season, and is next in road action Saturday (Sept. 27), when it travels to Newark, N.J., for a 3 p.m. kickoff against New York University – which is receiving votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Poll.Â
