NEW YORK, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's tennis team fell on the road to Hunter College, 5-2, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.Â
Hunter (1-0) won two-of-three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. The Rams' (2-4) lone doubles victory came at the second flight, where freshman
Kaelin Burnett (East Islip, N.Y.) and senior
MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) earned a 6-2 victory.
In singles play, Farmingdale State picked up wins at the top and fourth positions. Freshman
Martine McGowan (Port Washington, N.Y.) recorded a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 1 match, while senior
Gabriella Loria (Levittown, N.Y.) tallied a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the fourth slot.Â
Hunter claimed the other four singles matches in straight sets as they went on for the 5-2 non-conference win.
Farmingdale State will next play host to Baruch College on Tuesday, September 30th at 4:30 p.m.
