ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's volleyball team suffered its first loss of the 2025 season on Tuesday night, as the Rams were defeated in four sets at Bard College (25-15, 21-25, 27-25, 25-19).
After Bard (2-2) won the first set, FSC (2-1) battled back to even the match at 1-1 in a second set that featured 11 ties and five lead changes. The set was tied at 16-16 when junior
Sarah Kollarik (Levittown, N.Y.) put down a kill as part of a three-point spurt to give the visitors the lead for good. The Raptors closed to within a 21-20 count, before Farmingdale State registered four of the next five points to pull level at one set apiece.
Much like the second frame, the third set was a back-and-forth affair, with the teams tying on 13 occasions while the lead changed hands six times. Senior outside hitter
Delaney Keegan (Lake Grove, N.Y.) registered two kills off assists from classmate and setter
Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) during a 5-1 run that brought the Rams even with Bard at 23-23. Keegan added one more kill following a Raptors side out, before a service ace by junior libero
Allison Salinas (Glen Cove, N.Y.) edged FSC ahead, 25-24. From there, two kills and one block by the hosts guided Bard to a 27-25 decision and a 2-1 lead in the match.
For Farmingdale State, sophomore outside hitter
Samantha Russo (Bay Shore, N.Y.) led all players with 11 kills, while Rende finished one dig shy of a double-double with 27 assists and a team-high two service aces. Senior middle hitter
Lauren Offermann (North Babylon, N.Y.) floored eight kills for the third time in as many matches while registering two total blocks, while Salinas passed 16 digs in the back row for the Rams.
Up next, Farmingdale State will play host to their home opener Thursday night (Sept. 4) at 6 versus Western Connecticut State University.
