Women's Soccer Loses at FDU-Florham

FDU-Florham 4, Farmingdale State 3
MADISON, N.J. | The Farmingdale State College women's soccer team traveled to Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham on Saturday afternoon, with the host Devils capturing a 4-3 decision over the Rams.

FSC (2-3-1) went ahead on an own goal by the Devils (2-3-1) in the opening four minutes, before freshman attacker Paulina Fonfara (Glen Cove, N.Y.) made two turns to beat defenders along the left side of the penalty area and curved home her fifth goal of the campaign at the 15-minute mark to stake the Rams to a 2-0 lead.

After FDU scored with 20 minutes left before halftime, the teams traded one goal apiece in a frantic first-four minutes of the second half. FSC junior Stephanie Alberghine (Medford, N.Y.) stole the ball in the middle of the field and buried a 30-yard shot for her second tally of the day just 27 seconds following the restart, before the Devils responded three minutes later to cut the FSC edge to 3-2.

FDU leveled the score at 3-all with 31:30 remaining on a long-range strike, before taking its first lead of the day on a penalty-area scramble with 21 minutes left.

Farmingdale State is back in action at home Sunday afternoon (Sept. 14), when it plays host to Arcadia University at 2.
