SEWANEE, Tenn. | Sewanee scored two goals in each half Sunday afternoon, as the host Tigers defeated the Farmingdale State College women's soccer team by the score of 4-0.
Sewanee (2-0) opened the scoring 17 minutes in on a corner kick, before taking a 2-0 edge on a first-touch shot 14 minutes later. The Tigers pushed their lead to three goals on a 75th-minute tally, before converting from the penalty spot two minutes before the final whistle.
For Farmingdale State (1-1), senior goalie
Hailey Stork (Bellmore, N.Y.) made eight saves on the afternoon, while sophomore
Kaitlyn Loughran (Smithtown, N.Y.) and senior
Abigail Borra (Syosset, N.Y.) placed one shot on target apiece.
The Rams open their home and Skyline Conference slates on Thursday afternoon (Sept. 4), when they welcome Yeshiva University to Farmingdale for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
