Women's Soccer Rolls in Season Opener at Maryville (Tenn.)

Farmingdale State 3, Maryville (Tenn.) 0
MARYVILLE, Tenn. | A pair of goals inside the first nine minutes of the second half helped the Farmingdale State College women's soccer team to extend its 1-0 halftime advantage on the way to a 3-0, season-opening victory at Maryville (Tenn.) College – back-to-back NCAA Championship participants and champions of the Collegiate Conference of the South.

The Rams went ahead less than 17 minutes into the campaign, as freshman attacker Paulina Fonfara (Glen Cove, N.Y.) stole the ball from the Scots 25 yards from goal, and placed her second touch into the net for her first collegiate score.

FSC doubled its lead 2:17 into the second half when junior midfielder Taylor Boes (Holbrook, N.Y.) scored following a rebounded free kick from sophomore midfielder Abigail Chest (Johnstown, N.Y.), before Fonfara notched her second goal of the afternoon just six minutes later from the middle of the penalty area.

Senior keeper Hailey Stork (Bellmore, N.Y.) made five saves in net for her eighth career shutout in 10 starts for Farmingdale State, which rounds out its Tennessee trip Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Sewanee.
