Men's Soccer Falls at Eastern Connecticut in Season Opener

Eastern Connecticut State 3, Farmingdale State 1
MANSFIELD, Conn. | The Farmingdale State College men's soccer team fell in its season opener Friday afternoon, as the Rams were downed by host Eastern Connecticut State University, 3-1.

The host Warriors got on the scoreboard in the 12th minute of action, before doubling their lead 12 minutes later to carry a 2-0 lead into halftime.

FSC notched its first goal of the season and sliced its deficit in half just over 11 minutes into the second half, when junior defender Omar Hernandez (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored his first-collegiate goal off assists from junior midfielder Christian Russo (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and freshman defender Darlin Alcantara Jimenez (Westbury, N.Y.). ECSU countered with its third score of the day with 18 minutes remaining, pushing its lead back to two goals and accounting for the 3-1 final tally.

Rams senior keeper Rocco Dispinseri (Dix Hills, N.Y.) made four saves in net for Farmingdale State, which welcomes Lehman College in FSC's home opener on Wednesday (Sept. 3) at 4:30 p.m.
