FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse hosted No. 11 ranked The College of New Jersey on Wednesday afternoon and fell by a score of 22-10.Â
The Lions (7-2) came out quick, registering two goals in the first 1:05. After a Rams (3-6) timeout, FSC senior attack
Jules Loughran (Smithtown, N.Y.) registered an unassisted goal to make it 2-1.
Trailing 6-2 later in the first, Farmingdale State sophomore attack
Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored a man-up goal to cut the deficit to three.
FSC was down 9-3 before scores from junior attack
Emily Sohm (Seaford, N.Y.) and Loughran closed the gap to 9-5 with nine minutes remaining in the second quarter.Â
TCNJ increased their advantage to 13-6 heading into halftime, but back-to-back goals from Livingston and Loughran pulled Farmingdale State to within five at 13-8.
The Lions led 16-9 at the end of three quarters and outscored FSC, 6-1, in the fourth as they went on for the 22-10 non-conference victory.Â
Loughran finished with a game-high six goals, to go with six draw control and one ground ball. She currently leads the team and ranks fourth in the Skyline with 27 goals this season. Livingston produced two goals, two assists, one caused turnover and two ground balls, while Sohm chipped in with two goals. Senior defender
Sarah Fava (Lynbrook, N.Y.) caused two turnovers and picked up five ground balls and freshman midfielder
Alexis Chew (East Meadow, N.Y.) recorded one caused turnover, one ground ball, two draw control and one assist in the loss.
The women's lacrosse team will next travel to play Skyline opponent Maritime on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
