Farmingdale State 20, Mount Saint Vincent 4
RIVERDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's lacrosse team, listed No. 24 nationally in the latest edition of the NCAA Division III Power Index (NPI), scored 17 of the first 18 goals to pick up its program-record 13th-consecutive victory on Thursday with a 20-4, Skyline Conference triumph over host University of Mount Saint Vincent.

The visiting Rams (13-2, 5-0 Skyline) saw seven different players score in the first period, as they jumped out to a 9-0 lead over the Dolphins (5-9, 2-4). Junior Kamryn Gill (Riverhead, N.Y.) scored the first of his four goals on the day 3:14 in to open the account, and joined senior attackman Andrew Giovinco (Syosset, N.Y.) in notching two scores apiece in the opening 15 minutes of action. The FSC advantage swelled to 17-0 before UMSV got on the board 1:50 before halftime, as Giovinco picked up all seven of his game-high points (6g, a) by the 7:59 mark of the second quarter.

In all, 11 different Rams notched points, with Giovinco's brother and fellow front man, sophomore Adam Giovinco (Syosset, N.Y.), recording a five-point afternoon on two goals and a game-high three assists. Midfielders Thomas Mai (Sr.; Islip, N.Y.) and Amir Slaughter (Jr.; North Babylon, N.Y.) netted two goals apiece in the victory, with senior mids Kyle Kolano (Babylon, N.Y.) and Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) each tallying one goal and an assist.

FSC was dominant in possession, outshooting its hosts by a 47-18 margin (35-8 on target) and winning 19-of-28 face-offs – including a 10-of-12 display at the midfield "x" by senior Antonio Kaminskey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.). The Rams defense forced 13 of the Dolphins' 27 turnovers on the afternoon, with freshman Matthew Durnin (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) registering a career-best three takeaways, while Slaughter and sophomore long-stick midfielder Sean Lawson (Mattituck, N.Y.) swiped two apiece. Four goalies combined to back the visitors' defense, including a two-save first half by senior and five-time Skyline Defensive Player of the Week, Dan Erler (Smithtown, N.Y.).

Farmingdale State is back in Skyline action on Tuesday night (April 22), when it travels to Throggs Neck, N.Y., for a 7 p.m. opening face-off at Maritime College.
