Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past MSMC for 12th Consecutive Win

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The FSC men's lacrosse team earned their program-long 12th consecutive win on Tuesday evening, cruising past Mount Saint Mary College, 17-2, in Skyline action. The Rams improved to 12-2 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play, while the Knights dropped to 4-8, 2-3.

Farmingdale State outscored MSMC, 5-0, in the opening quarter as five different Rams scored a goal. Senior midfielder Tyler Kollar (Bellport, N.Y.) got FSC on the board just 32 seconds into play before senior attack Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) scored off the feed from Adam Giovinco (Syosset, N.Y.). Senior attack Andrew Giovinco (Syosset, N.Y.) followed with a score before senior midfielder Gerardo Maldonado (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and senior face off specialist Antonio Kaminskey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) registered goals just seven seconds apart.

The Knights recorded the opening goal of the second quarter, but Farmingdale State responded with eight unanswered to take a commanding 13-1 lead. Andrew Giovinco and Adam Giovinco had two goals apiece in the run that was capped by Connor Murtha's (Moriches, N.Y.) second score of the season.

The Rams tallied four goals in the second half as they went on for the 17-2 victory.

Andrew Giovinco (5g) and Adam Giovinco (3g, 3a) led FSC offensively with 11 combined points. On defense, sophomore Sean Lawson (Mattituck, N.Y.) registered four caused turnovers, while senior William Henry (West Islip, N.Y.) had two CT's and picked up four ground balls.

Senior goalie Dan Erler (Smithtown, N.Y.), who was named the Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the fifth time this morning, finished with six saves in net. Senior Nick Rizzuto (Bohemia, N.Y.) tallied four saves and junior Jason Murphy (Seaford, N.Y.) stopped two in the victory.

Farmingdale State will next travel to Mount Saint Vincent for a Skyline Conference game on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
