PURCHASE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's lacrosse team, listed a program-record No. 4 in the latest NCAA Division III Region II Rankings, won its 11th-straight game Friday night with a 21-1 victory at Skyline Conference foe Purchase College.
The Rams (11-2, 3-0 Skyline) are one of four teams nationally that remain undefeated this spring against Division III competition, and 13 players tallied points against the host Panthers (3-8, 0-3). FSC jumped out to a 16-0 lead by halftime, which including a six-goal first period, and held a decided 44-9 shots advantage.
Junior
Kamryn Gill (Riverhead, N.Y.) notched a game-high seven points on the evening, and scored the first of his five goals just 38 seconds after the opening whistle to start the Rams' scoring spree. Senior
Thomas Mai (Islip, N.Y.) completed a hat trick on an extra-man goal with 6:05 remaining in the first period, while junior
Amir Slaughter (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored a career-high four goals. Brothers
Andrew Giovinco (Sr.; Syosset, N.Y.) and
Adam Giovinco (So.; Syosset, N.Y.) collected five (2g, 3a) and four (2g, 2a) points, respectively, with seniors
Gerardo Maldonado (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and
Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) adding three points apiece.Â
FSC controlled much of the possession by winning 20-of-25 face-offs, including a 12-of-14 (.857) display at the "x" by senior specialist
