FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | A total of 12 student-athletes saw action for Farmingdale State College men's tennis team Tuesday afternoon, as the defending-champion Rams opened Skyline Conference play with a 7-0 shutout over visiting Sarah Lawrence College.

FSC (7-2, 1-0 Skyline), winners of five-straight matches, dropped just four doubles games, and five in singles play, versus the Gryphons (2-3, 0-2).

The Rams powered through the three doubles tilts to secure a 1-0 lead, with freshman Michael Lerman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) notching a 6-2 win in the top flight. Identical 6-1 matches went Farmingdale State's way in the other pair of matches, with the second-flight tandem consisting of junior Ryan Hendel (Merrick, N.Y.) and sophomore Myles Freelin (Islip, N.Y.), while freshman Jake Pepitone (Carle Place, N.Y.) partnered with classmate Jordan Gonzalez (Central Islip, N.Y.) at No. 3.

FSC cruised in its singles matches, as well, with seniors Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and Muhammad Sawar (Brentwood, N.Y.) and sophomore Ty Williams (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) each registering 6-0, 6-0 victories in the first, fourth and sixth flights, respectively. Freshman and reigning Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, Zakaria Ahmed (Manhasset, N.Y.), and sophomore Kwaku Agyeman (Middletown, N.Y.) conceded just one game apiece in the Nos. 2 and 5 positions, with senior Vansh Aggarwal (Mumbai, India) rounding out the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-2 decision in the third flight.

Farmingdale State continues its homestand Wednesday afternoon, when it plays host to non-conference foe Hunter College at 4:30 p.m.
