Men's Tennis Topples Previously Undefeated Baruch

Farmingdale State 4, Baruch 3
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis team won its fourth-consecutive match on Thursday, as the Rams outlasted previously unbeaten Baruch College, 4-3, in a rematch of the teams' 2023 NCAA Championship First Round tilt.

FSC (6-2) captured two-of-three doubles matches to go up 1-0 against the Bearcats (5-1), before securing the first-three singles matches to clinch the team victory.

The Rams' third-flight doubles tandem of freshman Zakaria Ahmed (Manhasset, N.Y.) and sophomore Ty Williams (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) defeated their Baruch counterparts by a 6-1 score, followed by senior Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and junior Ryan Hendel (Merrick, N.Y.) capturing a 7-6 (7-3) triumph in a top-flight tiebreaker over the Bearcats' Juan Mendoza and Juan Paredes.

Williams carded the first singles result, when he raced past Jordan Hernandez by scores of 6-2 and 6-1 in the No. 6 position, before classmate Kwaku Agyeman (Middletown, N.Y.) followed suit with identical 6-1 set scores in his fifth-flight win over Steven Margolis. Ahmed locked up the team victory for Farmingdale State in his third singles match-up, besting Paredes, 6-3 and 6-2.

Farmingdale State, two-time defending champions of the Skyline Conference, open conference play at home Tuesday afternoon (April 1) at 4:30 p.m. against Sarah Lawrence College.
