Farmingdale State 18, Manhattanville 2
PURCHASE, N.Y. | Seven different players from the Farmingdale State College women's lacrosse team recorded multiple-goal games Wednesday night, as the defending Skyline Conference-champion Rams opened their 2025 conference slate with an impressive 18-2 victory at Manhattanville University.
FSC (2-5, 1-0 Skyline) was led by a seven-point (2g, 5a) evening from sophomore attacker
Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.), who also notched a career-best seven caused turnovers to tie for the second-largest single-game mark in program history. Eight takeaways is the school record, which was set by both FSC Athletics Hall of Famer Christy Thoden (vs. Mount Saint Vincent; March 27, 2013), and Anna Zaborowska (at St. Joseph's-Long Island; April 5, 2022).
Senior midfielder
Jules Loughran (Smithtown, N.Y.) registered a six-point night on four goals and two assists, while junior attacker
Emily Sohm (Seaford, N.Y.) scored twice and dished out a pair of helpers. Sophomore midfielder
Olivia Cassese (Farmingdale, N.Y.) filled the stat sheet with a hat trick, four ground balls and three draw controls, with teammates
Molly Espey (Sr.; West Hempstead, N.Y.),
Izzy Sheridan (Fr.; Glen Head, N.Y.) and
Jordyn Neu (Jr.; New Hyde Park, N.Y.) each scoring two goals.
Livingston opened the scoring 1:05 after the opening whistle, before the Valiants (2-4, 0-1) responded with a goal 80 seconds later. From there, Farmingdale State scored the next 13 goals of the night, as it took an 11-1 lead into halftime and kept the hosts off the scoresheet until the 4:55 mark of the third period. Loughran finished off her hat trick with 52 seconds left in the first half, firing home a pass from Livingston, who recorded her fourth assist of the game on the play.
The Rams' defense limited the Valiants to 15 shots on the evening, as junior goalie
Giavanna Stamatelo (Levittown, N.Y.) made eight saves in the FSC cage; her first stop was her 200th save in her 26-game career in the green and white uniform. Sheridan and Espey helped Farmingdale State to hold a decided possession advantage, as they notched five draw controls apiece to pace all players.
FSC is back in Skyline play at home on Saturday (March 28), when it plays host to St. Joseph's-Long Island in a noontime opening draw.
