WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. | The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team traveled to West Plam Beach, Florida this week for their annual spring break trip. The Rams took on a pair of undefeated teams on Wednesday and Thursday and fell in both contests.
Wednesday, March 19
The Rams (1-5) battled Division II opponent and No. 4 nationally ranked Lynn University (10-0) on Wednesday and lost, 18-2.Â
Junior midfieldersÂ
Kailee Coppola (Levittown, N.Y.) and
Emily Sohm (Seaford, N.Y.) produced one goal apiece, while junior goalkeeper
Giavanna Stamatelo (Levittown, N.Y.) stopped 15 shots.
Jules Loughran (Smithtown, N.Y.) and
Olivia Cassese (Farmingdale, N.Y.) had two draw control in the loss.
Thursday, March 20
Farmingdale State traveled to NAIA-member and No. 3 ranked Keiser University (10-0) on Thursday evening and fell by a score of 17-4.Â
The Rams were down 3-0 in the first before Loughran registered a goal off the feed from freshman
Izzy Sheridan (Glen Head, N.Y.) to cut their deficit to two.Â
FSC trailed 8-1 late in the second quarter before sophomore attack
Carly Livingston (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Coppola produced back-to-back scores to close within five at 8-3.
Loughran registered the opening goal of the third quarter to make it a four-goal game, but the Seahawks (10-0) held Farmingdale State off the board the rest of the way.
As a team, the Rams caused a season-high 15 turnovers, with senior defender
Dominique Baldino (Island Park, N.Y.) leading the way with four.
Rylee Valenzano (Centereach, N.Y.), Loughran, Coppola and Livingston finished with two CT's apiece, while Stamatelo recorded a career-best 16 saves in the cage for FSC.
The women's lacrosse team will next open their Skyline Conference schedule with a road game at Manhattanville on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
