CLERMONT, Fla. | The Farmingdale State College softball team wrapped up play at The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida with four more games. FSC finished the trip with three wins and will next play New York University in their home opener on Wednesday afternoon.
Thursday, March 20
The Rams fell to both Babson College, 15-5, and Coe College, 20-1, in five innings on Thursday.Â
FSC opened with three runs in the top of the first inning against Babson as sophomore third baseman
Bailey Hammock (Port Jervis, N.Y.), sophomore first baseman
Madison Sturtz (East Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore left fielder
Isabella Marchini (Hicksville, N.Y.) registered RBI's.Â
Farmingdale State scored unearned runs in the second and fifth in the loss.
In game two against Coe, freshman catcher
Hailey Cannon (Forest Hills, N.Y.) produced FSC's lone extra-base hit with an RBI double in the fifth. Hammock, Marchini,
Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.) and
Ashley Toro (Islip, N.Y.) had a single in defeat.
Saturday, March 22
On Saturday, the Rams lost in a pair of closely contested games. They lost 8-4 in the first game against Buffalo State and 1-0 to Fredonia in game two.
Farmingdale State added a run in each of the first four innings og game one before Buffalo registered three runs in the top of the fifth. After FSC was set down in the bottom of the inning, the Bengals used a single and sacrifice fly in the sixth to take their first lead of the game, 5-4.
Buffalo added three more runs in the seventh as they went on for the 8-4 win.
Freshman center fielder
Nikole Galgano (Levittown, N.Y.) went 2-for-3, while Sturtz had a hit, two walks, and two runs scored.
In game two of the day, the Rams were held to just four hits as Fredonia pitcher Kendall Phillips had 13 strike outs.
FSC freshman pitcher
Madison DeMaio (Elmont, N.Y.), who was
named Skyline Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday, tossed a complete-game, allowing only six hits and striking out three.
