FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2024-25 schedule on Saturday afternoon, outlasting SUNY Oneonta, 4-3, in non-conference play.Â
The Red Dragons earned the doubles point as they picked up victories in the first and second slots. The FSC (4-2) pairing of sophomore
Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and freshman
Michael Lerman (Massapequa, N.Y.) tallied the lone doubles win with a 6-1 decision.
Farmingdale State quickly took the lead with victories in the first, fifth and sixth singles matches. Sophomore
Ty Williams (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) first recorded a 6-0, 6-4 victory in the sixth position, before senior
Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) tallied a 6-3, 6-4 win in the top-flight match. Sophomore
Kwaku Agyeman (Middletown, N.Y.) put FSC in front, 3-1, with a 6-1, 6-4 decision in the fifth singles match.
The Rams clinched the match with a victory in the third spot as senior
Vansh Aggarwal (Mumbai, India) earned a 7-5, 6-2 win over Jaden Ritterman.
FSC fell in the second and fourth positions, but went on for the 4-3 victory.
The Rams will next play host to Western Connecticut State for a non-conference match on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
