FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's basketball team defeated Maritime College, 74-60, to take sole possession of first place in the Skyline Conference's Black Division on Saturday afternoon. The Rams improved to 10-2 in conference play, while the Privateers fell to 9-3.

Farmingdale State (13-8) fell behind 11-3 just under five minutes in but responded with a 3-pointer by junior guard Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) and four points from senior forward Hamdel Mohammed (Bronx, N.Y.) to quickly cut the deficit to one at 11-10.

After a Maritime (13-8) jumper, baskets from junior guard Robbie Siechen (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Notias gave FSC its first lead of the game at 14-13.

Over the next four minutes, the Privateers held Farmingdale State to just two points while building a five-point advantage, 21-16.

Trailing 25-21 with just over a minute left in the first half, the Rams closed with a Mohammed layup, a Siechen tip-in, and two free-throws from senior guard Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) to take a 27-25 lead into the halftime break.

The Rams were up by three, 38-35, early in the second half before back-to-back Evans' layups extended the advantage to seven.

Following a Maritime free-throw, four more points from Farmingdale State gave them a double-digit lead at 46-36.

After the Privateers closed to within five, 54-49, the Rams answered with four points by freshman guard James Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) and a Siechen 3-pointer to go up 61-49 with 4:14 remaining.

FSC held a 14-point edge before an Evans dunk and J. Notias 3-pointer gave them their largest lead of the game, 72-53.

The Rams hit two more free-throws in the closing moments as they went on for the 74-60 victory.

M. Notias led the way with 15 points, including 8-for-8 at the foul line, while Evans produced 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. J.
