JERSEY CITY, N.J. | The Farmingdale State men's basketball team opened their 2025-26 season with a 73-63 victory at New Jersey City University on Tuesday evening at the John J. Moore Athletics & Fitness Center.
The Rams (1-0) jumped out to an early 8-0 lead behind a pair of 3's from senior guard Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) and never trailed in the contest. FSC led 33-24 at halftime after 50 percent (14-for-28) shooting from the field in the first 20 minutes.
Just 3:46 into the second half, Farmingdale State extended its lead to 17, 46-29, following back-to-back 3-pointers from junior guard Derek Reed (Shinnecock, N.Y.).
NJCU responded midway through the period, cutting the deficit to seven, 57-50, with 8:19 remaining. The Rams quickly answered with a 7-0 run, highlighted by baskets from senior guard Sean Conroy (Staten Island, N.Y.) and junior forward Liam Buckley (Manhasset, N.Y.), to push the lead back to 14 at 64-50.
Farmingdale State maintained at least a eight-point advantage the rest of the way to secure the 73-63 road win.
Notias finished with a team-high 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, and added three rebounds, six assists and two steals. Conroy recorded 12 points, three rebounds and two assists, while Buckley tallied 10 points, eight rebounds and a block. Sophomore guard Jordan Tucker (Elmont, N.Y.) tallied 10 points and three rebounds in 12 minutes of action off the bench.
As a team, Farmingdale State shot 54.7 percent from the floor (29-for-53) and 42.9 percent from beyond the arc.
The men's basketball team will next host the FSC Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday, November 15th, and Sunday, November 16th. The Rams face Cortland on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., while Albright takes on No. 25 Saint Joseph (Conn.) at 3:00 p.m. Sunday's schedule includes the consolation game at 1:00 p.m. and the championship game at 3:00 p.m.
