FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State women's tennis team closed its spring schedule on Friday afternoon, falling to non-conference opponent Hunter College, 6-1. The Rams finish the 2025-26 season with a 10-6 record, while the Hawks improved to 12-0 as they prepare for the NCAA Championship in May.
Hunter took the early edge by winning all three doubles matches to go up, 1-0. At first doubles, Isabella Tchij and Jade Schonfeld defeated junior Natalia Furchel (Manorville, N.Y.) and senior MacKenzie Gisler (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), 6-3. At second doubles, Anna Chapko and Sara Contreras posted a 6-4 win over FSC seniors Mikayla DeMaria (West Babylon, N.Y.) and Heather McGullam (Hauppauge, N.Y.), while Sree Kolla and Samantha Moser topped junior Marybeth Zimos (Hicksville, N.Y.) and freshman Giselle Alfaro Reyes (Bay Shore, N.Y.), 6-1.
In singles play, Hunter took five of six matches to earn the 6-1 victory. Tchij defeated Furchel, 6-4, 6-2 in the top-flight before Schonfeld defeated Gisler, 6-1, 6-3 at second singles.
At third singles, Chapko earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over DeMaria and Julia Aksamentova defeated McGullam, 6-1, 6-1 in the fourth slot.
Farmingdale State earned its lone point at fifth singles, where freshman Jennifer Larwood (North Massapequa, N.Y.) defeated Kolla, 6-0, 6-4.
At sixth singles, Contreras closed out the match for Hunter with a 6-0, 6-0 win over senior Elizabeth Cintron (Flushing, N.Y.).
