Men's Soccer Plays Mount Saint Mary to 1-1 Draw

Farmingdale State - 1, Mount Saint Mary - 1

NEWBURGH, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie at Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday evening in a Skyline Conference match.

The Rams (4-6-4, 3-1-4 Skyline) took a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute when freshman defender Jayson Veliz Perez (Riverhead, N.Y.) intercepted a Mount Saint Mary pass and carried the ball up the right wing. Veliz Perez deked a defender and sent a cross in front for senior forward Tyree Baskin Jr. (Freeport, N.Y.), who chipped the ball over the goalkeeper for the score.

Mount Saint Mary (5-4-6, 2-2-4 Skyline) evened the match in the 63rd minute. FSC goalkeeper Vas Dallas (Garden City South, N.Y.) came out to challenge a long leading pass and fouled the Knights' offensive player in the box. Marco Mazzarelli converted the penalty kick into the right side of the net to tie the game at 1-1.

Each team had a pair of shots down the stretch but were unable to score as the match ended in a 1-1 tie.

Mount Saint Mary outshot the Rams, 17-8, and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Dallas finished with a career-best seven saves, while Noah Horn made three stops for MSMC.

The Rams will next travel to Merchant Marine for a Skyline match on Wednesday, October 22nd at 7:00 p.m.
