Farmingdale State 4, St. Joseph's-Long Island 2
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Behind a two-goal, one-assist afternoon from freshman striker
Josue Granados (Brentwood, N.Y.), the Farmingdale State College men's soccer earned a 4-2, Skyline Conference victory against visiting St. Joseph's University-Long Island on Saturday.
Granados started a three-goal onslaught for the Rams (4-5-3, 3-1-3 Skyline) in the 19th minute, curling a left-footed shot from the top-right corner of the penalty box into the left side netting to give the hosts a 1-0 lead against the Golden Eagles (6-4-1, 4-2-1).
FSC senior winger
Tyree Baskin Jr. (Freeport, N.Y.) doubled the Rams' advantage five minutes later by firing home a blocked shot from 10 yards away, before Granados's left-to-right cross across the six-yard box allowed freshman winger
Lucca Noboa (Freeport, N.Y.) to up the Rams edge to 3-0 at 26:10.
After St. Joseph's pulled one goal back at the 33-minute mark, Noboa and Baskin Jr.'s counter-attack play led to the senior playing Granados down the left channel for his second goal of the afternoon, and a 4-1 Farmingdale State lead with 3:09 before the halftime break.
Freshman keeper
Vas Dallas (Garden City South, N.Y.) made six saves for FSC, which rounds out its non-conference schedule Wednesday (Oct. 15) with a 4 p.m. home date with Haverford College.
