FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | D3baseball.com recently released its 2025 Preseason All-America Team, and Farmingdale State College senior right-handed pitcher
Johnny Dougherty (Kings Park, N.Y.) was tabbed on the organization's second team.
Dougherty, who will enter his third season with the Rams this spring, was a First-Team All-Region selection in 2024 by D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). The Skyline Conference and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Pitcher of the Year went 8-1 on the hill with a 1.76 earned run average that ranked ninth nationally across Division III. Dougherty held the opposition to a .214 batting average against, while firing 63 strikeouts across his 61.1 innings pitched. In his first two seasons at FSC, he has posted a 13-3 record with a 2.12 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 102.0 innings pitched. An Academic All-District selection by College Sports Communicators in 2024, Dougherty's three career shutouts are tied for the most in program history, while his ERA and six complete games both rank fifth on the Farmingdale State leaderboard.
Farmingdale State went 23-15 in 2024, including a 13-7 mark in Skyline play en route to an appearance in the conference final. The Rams' 2025 campaign is scheduled to get underway on Feb. 22 (Sat.), when they play host to UMass Dartmouth in a noon doubleheader.
