Rams Improve to 4-1 in Skyline with Home Win Over USMMA

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's basketball team picked up their fourth straight victory with an 82-57 decision over the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Wednesday evening. FSC improved to 7-7 overall and a 4-1 mark in Skyline Conference competition.

The Rams led 7-4 just under five minutes in before 10 unanswered points put them ahead by 13. Senior guard Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) tallied a layup and junior guard Robbie Siechen (Syracuse, N.Y.) knocked down a 3-pointer. Senior forward Hamdel Mohammed (Bronx, N.Y.) and junior guard Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) followed with baskets to give Farmingdale State the 17-4 advantage.

Merchant Marine (5-9, 1-4 Skyline) closed the gap to 22-15 with 7:18 on the clock, but layups by Santos and sophomore forward Kentrell Evans (Brooklyn, N.Y.), as well as a 3 by junior guard Sean Conroy (Staten Island, N.Y.), put FSC in front, 29-15.

Farmingdale State led 31-22 and closed the half on a 12-2 run as they took a 43-24 edge into the break. Notias led all scorers with 10 points in the first 20 minutes.

The Rams were ahead 49-30 with 16 minutes to play and used 10 straight points, featuring five apiece from Santos and Conroy, to open up a commanding 29-point lead.

FSC took their largest lead of the game with just over two minutes remaining when a three-point play by freshman guard James Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) put them ahead by 31 at 80-49.

Farmingdale State registered two more points down the stretch as they went on for the 82-57 Skyline Conference victory.

Santos produced 14 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals, while Conroy nearly had a double-double with 13 points, nine assists and six boards. Michael Notias finished with 12 points and four assists and Mohammed tallied 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Freshman forward Jordan Tucker (Elmont, N.Y.) recorded six points and three rebounds in 12 minutes, while Evans added five points and five rebounds in just over 13 minutes played. Six other Rams registered at least two points in the victory.

FSC next travels to Newburgh, N.Y. to take on conference opponent Mount Saint Mary on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
