FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College volleyball team forced a deciding fifth set Thursday night against visiting Rutgers-Newark, before falling to the Scarlet Raiders by a 3-2 margin (16-25, 26-24, 25-22, 10-25, 15-13).
The host Rams (1-1) took the first set 25-16, hitting .276 while receiving four kills from sophomore middle blocker

Rutgers-Newark (2-2) captured a 26-24 second set to level the match, before going ahead after earning a 25-22 decision in the third frame.
FSC knotted things up with a 25-10 win in the fourth set, with sophomore outside hitter
Doly DeJesus (Geneva, N.Y.) posting a 6-0-9 (.667) hitting line to go along with three of her match-high four service aces.
Set number five was tied a total of five times, including at 12-all when Rams earned a side out on a service error by the Scarlet Raiders. From there, Rutgers-Newark tallied three of the next four points to move to .500 on the season.
