Women's Soccer Runs Past St. Joseph's-Brooklyn to Open Skyline Slate

Farmingdale State 10, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 0
BROOKLYN, N.Y. | A three-goal, two-assist afternoon by junior Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.) highlighted the Farmingdale State College women's soccer team's 10-0, Skyline Conference-opening win at St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn on Tuesday. Seven different Rams (2-5-1, 1-0 Skyline) found the back of the net versus the Bears (1-3, 1-1).

The visitors opened the scoring 2:12 in when Rivera assisted the first of sophomore Kayla Mendez's (Staten Island, N.Y.) two first-half tallies. Rivera, freshman Rachel McAuliff (Sayville, N.Y.) and Mendez all scored within three minutes of each other midway through the half, before FSC took a 6-0 lead into halftime – including junior Madison Deskins (Palm Bay, Fla.) notching her first collegiate goal 90 seconds before the interval.

Four different players found the scoresheet for Farmingdale State in the second stanza. Freshman Katherine Finkler (Kailua, Hawai'i) registered her first career goal 2:11 into the resumption of play, with sophomore Julia Rebich (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) picking up her first of the season in the 63rd minute. Rivera's hat trick was completed with 22 minutes remaining, while sophomore Katelyn Armstrong (Pembroke, N.H.) putting home a feed from freshman Gianna Pro-Solorzano (Farmingdale, N.Y.) four minutes before the final whistle.

McAuliff, freshman Abigail Chest (Johnstown, N.Y.) and freshman Kaitlyn Loughran (Smithtown, N.Y.) all had one assist apiece in the victory, while freshman Sam Richards (Ellicott City, Md.), junior Kelsie Feingold (Commack, N.Y.) and Chest all saw action in the Rams' net on the day.

The second of three-consecutive Skyline road matches for FSC comes on Saturday (Sept. 21), when it travels to Patchogue, N.Y., for a 1 p.m. start at St. Joseph's-Long Island.
