FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis team kicked off its 2024-25 season Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 victory over visiting Pratt Institute.
The Rams earned the team doubles point by sweeping all three matches against the Cannoneers (0-1), beginning with a 6-1 victory at the third flight by sophomores
Ty Williams (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and
Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.). The top-flight tandem of junior
Ryan Hendel (Merrick, N.Y.) and senior
Vansh Aggarwal (Mumbai, India) followed with a 6-3 win, before the No. 2 duo of sophomore
Kwaku Agyeman (Middletown, N.Y.) and freshman
Zakaria Ahmed (Manhasset, N.Y.) carded a 6-4 decision to complete the sweep.
Aggarwal (at No. 4) and Williams (at No. 6) earned identical 6-0, 6-1 victories to kick off singles play, while Agyeman's third-flight victory came by scores of 6-1 and 6-2. Ahmed, Hendel and Sabovic all earned wins at the Nos. 1, 2 and 5 flights, respectively.
Farmingdale State returns to the court next Saturday (Sept. 21), when it travels to Schenectady, N.Y., for a 1 p.m. first serve at Union College.
