Men's Soccer Tripped Up at Alvernia

Alvernia 3, Farmingdale State 0
READING, Pa. | A pair of first-half goals by host Alvernia University led the Wolves to a 3-0 victory Sunday afternoon over the Farmingdale State College men's soccer team.

Alvernia (1-0-1) opened the scoring on a penalty in the 15th minute of play, before a long-range strike to the top-left corner 19 minutes later gave the home side a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime over the Rams (1-1).

The Wolves registered one more goal on a final-third takeaway nine minutes into the second half, before back-to-back efforts in the 62nd minute by FSC sophomore Sebastian Monroy (Brentwood, N.Y.) and senior striker Olvin Yanes (Selden, N.Y.) were turned aside by the Alvernia keeper to keep the score at 3-0.

Junior keeper Rocco Dispinseri (Dix Hills, N.Y.) made three first-half saves for the visiting Rams, who will look to get back into the win column Wednesday night in a 5 p.m. kickoff at Lehman College.
