Baskin, Bileddo First-Half Goals Lift Men's Soccer Past Eastern Connecticut

Farmingdale State 2, Eastern Connecticut 1
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Two first-half goals within eight minutes of each other Saturday afternoon sent the Farmingdale State College men's soccer team past Eastern Connecticut State University, 2-1, in the season opener for both teams.

FSC junior Tyree Baskin Jr. (Freeport, N.Y.) opened the scoring 20 minutes in, when he took the rebound of a shot by senior Olvin Yanes (Selden, N.Y.) inside the six-yard box and fired home into the top-left corner to give the Rams a 1-0 advantage.

After the Warriors tied the game 1:06 later, Rams senior midfielder and reigning Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Anthony Bileddo (Carle Place, N.Y.) put the hosts back in front in the 27th minute of action. The senior notched a takeaway in the center circle, and went in alone on the ECSU keeper. Bileddo dribbled into the penalty area, and finished to the right side of the net from 15 yards away to put Farmingdale State ahead 2-1.

Rams junior keeper Rocco Dispinseri (Dix Hills, N.Y.) made five of his seven saves in the second half, including a pair of diving efforts in the final 17 minutes, to preserve the FSC win in his debut with the program.

Farmingdale State gets back into action in the latter half of their back-to-back slate Sunday afternoon, when it travels to Reading, Pa., for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Alvernia University.
