Game 2: Farmingdale State - 7, Purchase - 2
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State baseball team traveled to Purchase College for a Skyline Conference doubleheader on Saturday and earned a split. The Rams fell, 5-4, in game one, but bounced back with a 7-2 victory in the second game. With the win, the Rams finish with a 13-7 conference record and has locked up their spot in next week's Skyline Conference Championship.

Game 1

FSC (20-13) took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning of game one after sophomore second baseman Ryan Wasserman (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) singled, junior shortstop Chris McGuggart (Bethpage, N.Y.) walked and sophomore right fielder Richie Heyder (Holbrook, N.Y.) tallied an RBI single.

The Panthers (18-19, 10-8 Skyline) quickly responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning, including a two-run triple by Tyler Della Mura, to jump ahead by two.

Farmingdale State closed the gap to one in the second after junior third baseman Patrick Dallas (Patchogue, N.Y.) singled and later scored on a passed ball.

Purchase extended their lead with solo home runs in both the third and sixth innings to go up, 5-2.

In the seventh, FSC scored a pair of runs and had the potential tying run thrown out at the plate. Dallas and Wasserman singled to start the inning before McGuggart hit a two-run triple with one out. Heyder followed with a fielder's choice ground out as Purchase nabbed McGuggart trying to score. The Panthers forced a ground out in the next at-bat as they went on for the 5-4 victory.

Wasserman and Dallas had two hits and two runs apiece, while McGuggart had the two-run triple and a pair of walks.

Senior Daniel Molina (East Meadow, N.Y. - ND, 5.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 SO) tossed five innings in relief for the Rams, allowing just three hits.

Game 2

In game two, FSC jumped out to a commanding 6-0 lead through five innings. Senior first baseman Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.) produced an RBI ground out in the first and McGuggart hit an RBI double in the third. Leading 3-0 in the fourth, RBI's by freshman catcher Sean Maldonado (Glen Head, N.Y.), sophomore second baseman Giovanni Cassino (Miller Place, N.Y.) and sophomore third baseman Justin Rindner (East Meadow, N.Y.) put FSC on top by six.

Purchase tallied a pair of runs in the seventh to cut their deficit to 6-2, but the Rams responded with a sacrifice fly by Maldonado in the eighth to regain a 5-run advantage.

Sophomore Derek Watts (Baldwin, N.Y. - 2.1 IP, 4 SO, 1 H) allowed just one baserunner over the final two innings as the Rams went on for the 7-2 win.

Senior Roman Dorosh (Holbrook, N.Y. - W, 3-2, 5.0 IP, 5 SO, 1 H) picked up the victory after throwing five scoreless innings and allowing just one hit.
