FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's tennis team earned a 9-0 shutout victory over non-conference opponent Hunter College on Monday afternoon. The Rams remain undefeated this season and improved to 9-0 on the season. They have now tied the 2013 team for the best start to a season in program history, as well as the longest winning streak.
FSC cruised through doubles play with sophomore
Ryan Hendel (North Merrick, N.Y.) and junior
Vansh Aggarwal (Mumbai, India) earning an 8-1 win in the #1 spot. Seniors
Matthew Waterhouse (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and
Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) won second doubles by a score of 8-0 before freshmen
Ty Williams (Port Jefferston Station, N.Y.) and
Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) took third doubles, 8-2.
Senior
Muhammad Sawar (Brentwood, N.Y.) put Farmingdale State in front 4-0 after a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #3 singles.
A. Sabovic followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at top-flight singles to clinch the match for FSC.
Aggarwal (6-2, 6-1), Williams (6-3, 6-1),
Matthew Olkhovetsky (Great Neck, N.Y. - 6-2, 6-2) and
Vincent Manzi (Massapequa, N.Y. - 6-4, 6-1) earned straight set wins in their singles matches as Farmingdale State went on for the 9-0 non-conference victory.
The men's tennis team will next play host to non-conference opponent Pratt on Wednesday, April 10th at 5:00 p.m.
