Game 2: Farmingdale State - 10, Old Westbury - 5
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State softball team swept Skyline Conference opponent Old Westbury on Sunday afternoon behind a pair of wins by senior pitcher Allie Stanya (Babylon, N.Y.).

Stanya tossed a complete game, allowing just two hits and striking out eight, in game one to lead FSC to a 9-1 run-rule victory. She followed with five innings pitched in relief with five strikeouts in game two as the Rams tallied a 10-5 win.

Stanya lowered her ERA to 1.40 and picked up her seventh and eighth wins of the season.

Game 1

Farmingdale State (11-7, 4-0 Skyline) opened the scoring in the first inning of game one as freshman third baseman Bailey Hammock (Port Jervis, N.Y.) hit a triple and scored on a fielder's choice by senior shortstop Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.).

Tied at 1-1, FSC recorded a five-run third inning to jump ahead, 6-1. Senior right fielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) led off with a triple and quickly scored on a single by Hammock. Two batters later, sophomore first baseman Samantha Stolfi (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) doubled home Hammock to go up, 3-1. The Rams scored their fourth run on a fielder's choice by freshman center fielder Ashley Toro (Islip, N.Y.) before freshman left fielder Isabella Marchini (Hicksville, N.Y.) recorded a two-run single to take the five-run lead.

FSC held a 7-1 advantage heading to the sixth and scored two runs to take a 9-1 lead.

Stanya did not allow a base runner in the bottom of the sixth as she secured the 9-1 run-rule victory.

Giliberti was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and three runs scored. She was just a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Hammock, Stolfi and freshmen Madison Sturtz (East Islip, N.Y.) and Anna Rahner (Islip, N.Y.) each had two hits apiece in the win.

Game 2

FSC fell behind 5-2 through the first five innings of game two.

In the sixth, Farmingdale State scored four runs with two outs to jump in front, 6-5. After Stolfi singled to lead off the inning, the Panthers (9-6, 0-2 Skyline) tallied two quick outs. An error in the next at-bat extended the inning before Marchini hit a two-run double to cut the deficit to 5-4. Giliberti and Hammock followed with RBI hits as they took the 6-5 advantage.

The Rams continued the scoring in the seventh with four more runs to go in front, 10-5. With two outs, Toro and Marchini tallied run-scoring doubles to go up by four. Giliberti drove in FSC's 10th run with an RBI single.

Stanya did not allow a run in the bottom of the seventh as Farmingdale State went on for the 10-5 win.

Giliberti recorded three more hits in the second game with two runs scored, two RBI's and a stolen base. She increased her average to .431 in 2024. Marchini finished with two doubles, three runs batted in and three runs scored, while Toro was 2-for-4 with two RBI's and two runs.

Farmingdale State will next travel to Hunter College for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 9th at 3:00 p.m.
