Ryan Hendel (North Merrick, N.Y.) and junior
Vansh Aggarwal (Mumbai, India) led the FSC men's tennis team to a 6-3 victory at SUNY Oneonta on Sunday. Hendel and Aggarwal teamed up for an 8-2 win at #1 doubles, before picking up hard fought wins at second and third singles, respectively. With the victory, Farmingdale State moved to a perfect 8-0 on their 2023-24 season.
Freshmen
Ty Williams (Port Jefferston Station, N.Y.) and
Emil Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) matched Hendel and Aggarwal, winning third singles by the same score of 8-2.
In singles play, the two teams split the fourth and sixth matches as the Rams held a 3-2 advantage. Senior
Matthew Waterhouse (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) earned a 6-3, 6-2 win in the #6 slot.
Aggarwal followed with a 7-5, 6-3 victory in third singles before Hendel clinched the match with a 7-5, 7-5 win in second singles.
The Rams final point came in a tiebreaker at #1 singles with senior
Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) victorious by a score of 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 1-0 (10-7).
Since joining the team this spring, Aggarwal holds a record of 9-1. Hendel is 10-2 thus far in the 2023-24 season.
The men's tennis team is back at it tomorrow, Monday, April 8th against non-conference opponent Hunter College at 4:30 p.m.
