DiMartino Tallies Game-Winning Home Run in Split with Maritime

Game 1: Farmingdale State - 2, Maritime - 1
Game 2: Maritime - 17, Farmingdale State - 6 (F/8)
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State baseball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader versus Maritime College on Sunday afternoon. In the fifth inning of game one, junior Justin DiMartino (Bethpage, N.Y.) pinch-hit with the Rams trailing 1-0 and tallied a two-run home run to lift FSC to a 2-1 victory in game one. The Privateers responded in game two with 17-6 win to earn the split. Farmingdale State now holds an 18-11 overall record and is 11-5 in conference play.

Game 1

Rams sophomore pitcher Tyler Kregeloh (Plainedge, N.Y. - W, 3-0, 6.0 IP, 3 H, 2 SO) allowed just one run across six innings pitched. The lone run came off the bat of Maritime's (24-12, 12-6 Skyline) junior catcher Michael Frazzetta, who hit a solo home run in the fourth.

In the fifth, sophomore left fielder Greg Friedman tallied a one-out double before DiMartino tallied his pinch-hit, two-run home run over the wall in left field to put the Rams ahead.

FSC senior Tyler DiRocco (Commack, N.Y. - Sv 2, 1.0 IP, 1 H) moved from third base to the mound for the top of the seventh and closed out the game to secure the 2-1 victory.

Along with Friedman and DiMartino's hits in the fifth, DiRocco, sophomore second baseman Ryan Wasserman (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and senior center fielder Bobby Pollock (Manorville, N.Y.) tallied one hit apiece in the win.

Game 2

Maritime took an early 6-0 advantage in the second inning of game two, before the Rams scored two in the bottom of the inning. Senior first baseman Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.) tallied an RBI single and senior designated hitter Elian Pimentel (Huntington Station, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch the close the gap to four.

After each team scored two runs each in the third, the Privateers put up four in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a commanding 13-4 advantage.

The Rams final two runs came on a Pollock two-run homer in the seventh.

Lambert finished with two hits and two RBI's, while sophomore right fielder Richie Heyder (Holbrook, N.Y.) notched two hits and two runs scored. Pollock had the home run, a walk, two runs scored and two RBI's and both Friedman and Wasserman had one hit apiece in defeat.

Farmingdale State will next play host to non-conference opponent NYU for a single 9-inning contest on Thursday, May 2nd at 6:00 p.m.
