PATCHOGUE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College softball team's winning streak now sits at 12-straight games, as the Rams swept Saturday's Skyline Conference doubleheader at St. Joseph's University-Long Island. The Rams bested the Golden Eagles by a 5-1 score in the opening contest, before notching a 16-0 victory in five innings in the nightcap.

Game 1

FSC staked senior right-handed pitcher Allie Stanya (Babylon, N.Y.) to a four-run lead in the top of the first inning, with sophomore Samantha Stolfi (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.) driving in senior Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.) and freshman Bailey Hammock (Pt. Jervis, N.Y.) on a bases-loaded single to right field. Freshman Ashley Toro's (Islip, N.Y.) RBI ground out allowed senior Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.) to score the Rams' third run of the inning, before freshman Madison Sturtz (E. Islip, N.Y.) brought home junior Alyssa Cowen (Garden City So., N.Y.) on a bunt single to up the visitors' advantage to 4-0.

Giliberti scored on a right-side ground out by Hammock in the fourth frame, as St. Joseph's was only able to pull back one run in the home half of the sixth inning.

Stanya is now 12-2 in the pitcher's circle on the season, as she tossed a complete-game four-hitter with two walks and eight strikeouts to earn the win. Stolfi went 2-for-2 in the game, while Capuano, Toro, Sturtz and sophomore Lindsay Cahill (Shoreham, N.Y.) collected one hit apiece. Giliberti finished with two runs and as many stolen bases, with Sturtz and Cowen each swiping one base.

Game 2

Junior pitcher Ava Shorr (No. Babylon, N.Y.) fired a complete-game two-hitter for Farmingdale State (21-7, 10-0 Skyline), allowing just one walk and striking out six in her 43-pitch outing.

The Rams scored twice in the first inning, before adding eight runs in the second and four more in the third to take full control. In the first, Capuano bunted home Giliberti to open the scoring, before coming home when Shorr reached on an infield error.

FSC sent 13 hitters to the plate in the eight-run second frame, with Capuano notching a two-run double down the left-field line to plate Sturtz and Giliberti to open the flood gates.

Freshman Anna Rahner (Islip, N.Y.), Sturtz and Giliberti picked up one RBI apiece in the third inning, before Hammock and classmate Isabella Marchini (Hicksville, N.Y.) each drove in one run in the fifth to round out the scoring.

Giliberti tied a career-high with four hits (tied for sixth-most in a single game in FSC history), scored two runs and drove in a pair, while Toro went 3-for-3 and tied Marchini for the game-high with three runs scored. Capuano scored twice and drove in three, with Hammock (two RBI) and Rahner (two runs, SB) each notching two hits.

Head coach Liz Pennino's Farmingdale State squad next plays host to a non-conference doubleheader against Baruch College on Tuesday, with first pitch slated for 3:30 p.m.
