Men's Lacrosse Pushes Winning Streak to Six at Manhattanville

Farmingdale State 23, Manhattanville 8
PURCHASE, N.Y. | Behind a career-high seven goals and eight points from senior midfielder Kyle Kolano (Babylon, N.Y.), the Farmingdale State College men's lacrosse team upped its winning streak to six games on Wednesday night with a 23-8, Skyline Conference victory at Manhattanville University.

The Rams (12-2, 4-0 Skyline) led 8-4 after one period of play, with Kolano finishing off his fourth hat trick of the season with 1:17 left. Junior midfielder Tyler Kollar (Bellport, N.Y.) added two of his career-high six goals during the opening 15 minutes, while junior Michael Cassano (Plainview, N.Y.) dished out two of his three assists on the night.

The host Valiants (6-8, 2-2) cut their deficit to 8-5 just 1:28 into the second quarter, before Kollar scored three times during a run of five-straight goals by FSC to help the visitors to a 13-8 halftime advantage.

Farmingdale State outscored Manhattanville by a 10-2 margin in the second half, including a 4-1 edge in the third period in which Kolano scored three more goals, to round out the contest.

Kollar ended the night with a career-best seven points, with freshman attacker Adam Giovinco (Syosset, N.Y.) tallied six points on two goals and four helpers. Senior Rob Varello (Smithtown, N.Y.) and sophomore Anthony Martino (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) both found the back of the net twice, while senior face-off specialist Antonio Kaminskey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finishing the game with a 20-of-35 display at the "x" to go with 12 ground balls. Freshman long-stick midfielder Sean Lawson (Mattituck, N.Y.) scooped seven ground balls and swiped a career-best five takeaways on the Rams' defense in front of junior goalie Dan Erler (Smithtown, N.Y.), who turned aside 13 Manhattanville shots in his 55 minutes of work.
