Men's Tennis Blanks Yeshiva in Skyline Contest

Farmingdale State 9, Yeshiva 0
MONTCLAIR, N.J. | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis team ran its record to 6-0 on the 2023-24 season Monday night, as it picked up its second Skyline Conference victory in as many outings with a 9-0 decision against host Yeshiva University.

FSC swept through all three doubles matches, including an 8-1 decision in the second flight by seniors Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and Matthew Waterhouse (Massapequa Pk., N.Y.) against the Macs' (2-7, 0-1 Skyline) David Cattan and Israel Bussu. The No. 3 tandem of senior Muhammad Sawar (Brentwood, N.Y.) and freshman Ty Williams (Pt. Jefferston Station, N.Y.) cruised past Leo Rahmey and Joshua Deutsch by an 8-2 margin, while the Rams' top-flight duo of sophomore Ryan Hendel (No. Merrick, N.Y.) and junior Vansh Aggarwal (Mumbai, India) outlasted Jacob Pfeifer and Mark Adler, 8-4.

Sabovic and Sawar conceded just one game apiece in sweeping their Nos. 1 and 4 singles matches, respectively, while Williams picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win against Bussu in the fifth flight. Hendel emerged victorious in the second slot against Cattan by scores of 6-0 and 6-4, before Aggarwal captured a 6-4, 6-1 decision in the No. 3 position against Adler. Senior Matthew Olkhovetsky (Great Neck, N.Y.) rounded out the FSC sweep with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph in the sixth flight against Deutsch.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Rams are next scheduled to continue Skyline play Wednesday afternoon (April 3), when they play host to Manhattanville College in a 4:30 p.m. first serve.
