Allie Stanya (Babylon, N.Y.) and junior
Ava Shorr (No. Babylon, N.Y.) pitched a no-hitter and perfect game, respectively, in the Farmingdale State College softball team's sweep at Yeshiva University on Friday morning. Stanya's no-no came in a 16-0, Skyline Conference-opening victory to start the day, before Shorr followed suit with a 56-pitch perfect game in an 11-0 win in the nightcap.
Game 1
Stanya's fourth no-hitter of her Rams career took just 46 pitches, as she issued one walk in the third inning while tallying 12 strikeouts.Â
FSC plated three runs in the top of the first inning, before scoring 10 more times in the second to take control of the contest.
Senior shortstop
Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.) went 4-for-4 with three doubles, three runs and four RBI, while freshman
Isabella Marchini (Hicksville, N.Y.) posted a 4-for-4 display at the dish with two doubles. Freshman
Madison Sturtz (E. Islip, N.Y.) and Shorr hit two-run home runs in the third and fourth innings, respectively.
Game 2
Shorr's perfect game was the second of her collegiate career (previous: April 26, 2022 at Yeshiva), and her fourth no-hitter. She fanned 12 Maccabees batters, with three ground outs coming in the first two innings.
FSC (6-6, 2-0 Skyline) posted a five-run first inning, with Shorr and Sturtz hitting back-to-back, inside-the-park homers to highlight the frame. Freshman
Anna Rahner (Islip, N.Y.) added a two-run homer in the second inning, while solo inside-the-park efforts were notched by freshman
Nicole Echevarria (Bayport, N.Y.) and Capuano in the fourth.
Echevarria, Rahner (three RBI) and Capuano (three runs, two RBI) all went 2-for-2 at the dish to lead the Rams' offensive output.

Liz Pennino's Farmingdale State squad will next play host to its home opener on Monday afternoon (March 25), when it welcomes Western Connecticut State University for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader.
