OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's basketball team closed their regular season schedule with a road victory over Old Westbury, 80-60, on Saturday afternoon. The Rams finish with a 23-2 overall record and 15-1 in the Skyline Conference, marking the best regular season in program history. FSC has clinched the #1 seed for the playoffs and will host the Quarterfinals of the Championship on Tuesday, February 20th. The time and opponent are to be determined.

Farmingdale State opened with 11 of the first 13 points, including seven points from senior guard Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.), to jump out to an 11-2 lead.

The Rams led 22-12 midway through the first half before a basket by Old Westbury (2-23, 2-14 Skyline) cut the advantage to eight.

FSC responded with a jumper by senior guard Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) and back-to-back 3-pointers by senior forward Nick Hurowitz (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) and senior guard Kamani Jones (Baldwin, N.Y.) to go ahead, by 16.

Following a jumper by the Panthers, Hurowitz and Jones hit two more 3's to take a commanding 20-point lead at 36-16 with 5:25 on the clock.

Farmingdale State closed the half on a Hurowitz 3 as they took a 46-23 advantage into the break.

They led 52-29 early in the second half before a quick 6-2 run put them ahead by 27, 58-31.

Old Westbury cut the gap to 19 with eight minutes remaining but a Kobe Thomas (Hicksville, N.Y.) jumper, layup by Kentrell Evans (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Michael Notias (Manhasset, N.Y.) put the Rams on top, 73-47.

The Rams were outscored 13-7 in the final six minutes but went on for the 80-60 victory.

Hurowitz led the way offensively with 18 points and five rebounds, while Evans notched a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Powell made six field goals for 13 points and Jones ended with 11 points, three rebounds and two steals. Senior guard Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) finished with seven points, four rebounds and two assists, while senior forward Jovayne Walters (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) registered five points and five rebounds off the bench.
