FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The FSC men's basketball team defeated Maritime College, 82-59, on Wednesday evening to improve to 14-1 in the Skyline Conference. Farmingdale State senior guard Aaron Davis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) registered his 1,000th career point with a 3-pointer in the second half and became the third Ram to do so this season. Davis recorded 176 points his freshman year at Geneseo and now has 824 points at FSC.

It was also Senior Night as James Cosgrove (Franklin Square, N.Y.), Davis, Nick Hurowitz (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) and Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) were each honored prior to tip-off.

Farmingdale State (22-2) held a 9-7 advantage just four minutes in and scored 16 unanswered points, including 3's from both Hurowitz and Davis, to open up a 25-7 lead.

The Privateers (14-10, 9-6 Skyline) still trailed by 18, 29-11, but went on a 17-4 run over the next nine minutes to cut the deficit to just five at 33-28.

The Rams took a 38-30 advantage into the halftime break and opened the second half with two baskets by Powell and one from freshman forward Kentrell Evans (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to regain a 14-point lead, 44-30.

After four points from Maritime, Hurowitz tallied an alley-oop from Evans, senior guard Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) knocked down a 3, and Powell made a jumper to go ahead by 17.

The Privateers recorded a layup with 13:58 on the clock, but another 3 by Santos and a layup by Evans put Farmingdale State in front by 20, 56-36.

FSC led by 21, 67-46, with 6:17 remaining and extended their lead with Davis' 1,000th career point on a 3-pointer, off the assist from Hurowitz.

Farmingdale State led by as many as 28 in the final five minutes as they went on for the 82-59 victory.

Hurowitz led all scorers with 19, to go with eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. He now has 1,188 career points and has passed AJ Matthews (2011-13) for sixth place on the all-time scoring list.
