Women's Soccer Set to Face No. 9 Washington and Lee in NCAA Championship First Round

BRACKET
INDIANAPOLIS | The National Collegiate Athletic Association released the 64-team field for the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship on Monday afternoon, and Farmingdale State College – champions of the Skyline Conference for the 14th time – will open play Saturday (Nov. 16) at ninth-ranked Washington and Lee University (Lexington, Va.) at 11 a.m.

Tickets for Saturday's game are all being sold electronically at this link, and no cash sales will be accepted on site. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for children (ages 3 to 12), students with high school or college ID, and senior citizens (ages 65 and older).

The Rams (11-7-4) took home the Skyline Conference title last Saturday (Nov. 9) with a 2-1 victory in the championship final at the University of Mount Saint Vincent. Sophomore winger Kayla Mendez (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored both goals for FSC off assists from junior Alexandra Coloma (Seaford, N.Y.), including the match-winner in the 82nd minute of play, while junior keeper Hailey Stork (Bellmore, N.Y.) was named Most Outstanding Player of the tourney with an eight-save performance against the Dolphins – including a match-preserving stop on a penalty inside the final two minutes of action.

Mendez's 13 goals are the top mark on the Farmingdale State squad, while junior striker and Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.) leads the side with 36 points on 12 goals and a team-best 12 assists. Freshman midfielder Rachel McAuliff (Sayville, N.Y.) was the Skyline's Rookie of the Year, and has registered 26 points on 11 goals and four assists to date. Freshman central midfielder Abigail Chest (Johnstown, N.Y.) and Coloma are tied for second on the team with five assists apiece, with Coloma's five coming over the course of the last six matches.

Stork (5-0-1, .955 save pct., 0.17 GAA) backstops a Rams defense that conceded just once in regular-season Skyline play, and is led by senior center backs Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Alexandra Getfield (West Islip, N.Y.) – the 2024 Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Washington and Lee enters with an 18-1-1 record, and won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan University. Sarah Zimmerman (team-highs of 12 goals, eight assists and 32 points) netted the only goal of the contest in the 42nd minute of play for the Generals – whose defense has conceded just four goals all season. Goalkeeper Abby Groff has been in net for all 17 of Washington and Lee's clean sheets (11 solo), and owns a .912 save percentage and 0.17 goals against average.

The winner of Saturday morning's contest will advance to Sunday's 1 p.m. second-round contest at the Generals' Alston Parker Watt Field, where it will face the victor of Saturday's 1:30 p.m. game between Ohio Northern University and Sewanee (The University of the South).
