RIVERDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College women's volleyball team posted a .287 hitting percentage Wednesday night, using its offensive surge to defeat the University of Mount Saint Vincent, 3-0, in Skyline Conference competition.
With the win, the Rams (9-4, 3-0 Skyline) have now won their last five matches, and eight of their last nine.Â
FSC received 15.5 points from senior middle blocker
Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.), who put down a match-high 12 kills, three total blocks (two solo) and one service ace. Freshman
Samantha Russo (Bay Shore, N.Y.) added 11 kills on a .526 hitting percentage on the outside of the Rams' lineup, while sophomore setter
Sarah Rende (Wantagh, N.Y.) directed the visitors' offense with 28 assists, four kills and as many service aces.
Farmingdale State trailed the Dolphins (3-9, 0-4) by the score of 6-5 early in the first set, before a Profeta kill set the stage for freshman
Mackenzie Marquardt (Centereach, N.Y.) to serve 10-straight points to distance the visitors for good.
Rende's serving late in the second set allowed FSC to finish the frame on a 14-1 run, before a kill late in set three by sophomore
Stephanie Nemecek (Farmingdale, N.Y.) broke a 23-all deadlock.
Farmingdale State continues Skyline play at home on Saturday (Oct. 12), when it welcomes Mount Saint Mary College for a 1 p.m. first serve.
